Frog Song, Felix AFTENE Frog Song

How important to your sense of freedom to think
You are just matter flowing thru the universe, just
Two spoon-fulls of stoop-honey, one grain of rice, three
Kernels of wheat chanting down a throat til dawn.
To be in relationship with yourself, you must be alone.
Six stacked bricks agree to hold-up one bed-end.
A daisy stuck in a cherry to confuse the worm,
Its cherry-cheeks rest on the charred window sill.
The window sill wonders at night-time. The window
Admires the back of the daisy's fez. The daisy
Misses the forest out of which it had been plucked
For its out-standing beauty like a gold tooth-brush
Or a gypsy getting made love to in the street.
